Compaq Presario CQ60-205EE Caddy

A hard drive caddy, also called an external hard drive enclosure, is a peripherial that encloses your hard drive in a case. This allows the hard drive to be quickly and easily moved between computers. These caddys come with a power and data supply for the drive. The only thing that you need to do when you assemble a 2nd caddy for Compaq Presario CQ60-205EE is to insert the hard drive inside.

1. Remove the hard drive caddy from the packaging and set it on a flat workplace.

2. Open the caddy. Look for plastic clips along the length of the case, which first need to be pried off before the case is opened. If you do not see any clips, check for a series of screws at the rear of the caddy. Loosen these with the screwdriver and slide out the back of the case from the cover.

3. Ground yourself by touching a metal object. This prevents static electricity buildup, which can harm electronic objects.

4. Remove the hard drive frrom its anti static packaging. Place the hard drive into the Compaq Presario CQ60-205EE hard drive caddy base. Connect the wider hard drive cable to the back of the drive. Connect the multicolored power cable to the four pin drive power socket. ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment) drives will only have one cable.

5. Secure the drive to the caddy with the drive screws on the sides. Insert the drive and carrier into the Compaq Presario CQ60-205EE Caddy body, or snap the caddy top back into place. Secure with the clips or screws, as appropriate.

6. Connect the hard drive to the AC adapter socket if needed. Attach a USB or Firewire cable for connection to your computer or gaming system. Switch on the hard drive.
